the unnatural natural world


i laugh a little inside sometimes when people tell me they "just like natural colors". i think i get what they mean (and I say it sometimes, too) but i also think we tend to have a pretty narrow stereotype of what "natural colors" are. it doesn't only mean beige and calm. i like natural colors, too. :)

Igneous rocks formed from lava flows of the Archaean era (>2,700 million years ago) are often found to contain disequilibrium-textured crystals characterized by spherulitic, branching or dendritic morphologies that occur in layers near the flow surface.
